In times of increasing terrorist threat, tools for remote detection of explosives and radioactive material in the luggage, cargo, in public places are important. Using specially designed portable neutron generators, the Institute created several types of inspection systems, which are supplied to the railway and bus terminals, and metro stations in accordance with the decision of the Government of the Russian Federation. Over 200 neutron generators were supplied for these systems.
